Mission

"Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania is a human service agency and network of not-for-profit businesses whose mission is to help people overcome barriers to employment and enjoy the dignity and benefits of work and improved quality of life. As one of the largest and most diverse social and human service organizations in the region, Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania serves thousands of people each year and helps thousands of individuals find jobs."

Programs and Services

  • Goodwill SWPA helps people who have disabilities and other barriers to employment find meaningful jobs. Our programs include education and testing, supportive housing, disability services, youth programs, job search services, and transition services. The service area covers Washington county and seven additional counties in southwestern Pennsylvania.
  • With the financial support from our thrift stores and other funding sources, Goodwill provides expert services to help people overcome physical, mental, educational, social, and economic barriers that stand between them and the ability to have a meaningful job and quality of life. Services include: Community Support Services, Disability Services, Education and Testing Services, Reintegration Services, Supportive Housing, Transition Services, Workforce Development and Placement
  • Goodwill SWPA serves vulnerable populations who have multiple barriers to employment including: people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities; individuals who are experiencing homelessness; individuals & families who are food insecure; people with limited education/training (including low-literacy skills); individuals who have criminal backgrounds; and displaced workers including Veterans.
  • Goodwill SWPA operates 34 retail thrift stores including one in Washington County. Revenue from the thrift stores goes directly to providing more than 50 workforce development programs. Each year, nearly 14,000 individuals utilize Goodwill’s programs and services. Goodwill reuses and recycles all materials donated to the thrift stores. Annually, Goodwill keeps nearly 15 million pounds out of landfills through recycling.
